Oh what a beautiful French restaurant - you could almost imagine being in France. Every detail is well thought out for comfort and atmosphere. The food is amazingly delicious. In fact, I had something I hadn't eaten in 20-years...frogs legs. It is surely the star and urge you to give it a try (tastes BETTER than chicken)! The staff is gracious and professional yet friendly and warm. I went for brunch but will definitely return for dinner.

Anthony Bourdain is smiling down on Chez Francis! This place is top notch. Decor is elegant and sophisticated. The food is superb. This place has the Les Halles vibe, but the food and service at Chez Francis is superior. The staff were warm and inviting. The bartender was welcoming from the moment we walked in and took care of us all evening. The wine manager was extremely personable and a pleasure to talk to. We loved his golf stories. The food was great, not good, great!! The frisée and lardon salad with the poached fried egg was delicious and the lardons were plentiful. Steak au poivre, meat was tender, asparagus cooked to French perfection and the sauce was delectable. The steak frites came with bernaise, fries were golden and crispy. We topped it all off with profiteroles with ice cream and pink champagne they gave us on the house. Really amazing evening. Highly recommended for a wonderful evening out. Get here now before the rest of New York City figures out how great this place is.

We had lunch/brunch today on a very rainy day in NYC. This small French bistro is housed in one of the most iconic restaurant locations in the city, the old Les Halles. Suffice to say, you will not have a better French bistro experience in the city. Balthazar has nothing on this restaurant. Hospitality was gracious and accommodating. The manager was kind enough to do a table visit to welcome us. Food was superb. Salad Niçoise was spot on as was the classic French omelet. Profiteroles were a delicious conclusion to lunch. Run. Do not walk to this restaurant, and enjoy.

Chez Francis is a lovely French restaurant in the heart of Murray Hill. They occupy the former Les Halles spot that I frequented for many years in the early 2000's. The service was excellent and friendly without being intrusive. We enjoy dining at a leisurely pace as the restaurant is still pretty new and had plenty of availability. I assume will change as more people find out about it. For starters, we chose two cheeses (Comte and Camembart) with duck and fig terrine which was prob the best terrine I've had. My sister also ordered the escargot which had a delicious garlic sauce. For mains, I went with the canard with cherry sauce and her the Bouef Bourguignon. The duck was prepared perfectly at medium and was not sinewy, which is usually the case at many places I've dined at. However, the star of the evening was the Bourguignon. It was so tender and flavourful, and I could drink the sauce without the accompanying mashed potatoes. We ended with the souffle which was on the house. I personally could have used a bit more sugar as it tasted a bit too eggy. I can't wait to get back to Chez Francis to try their other dishes as this is such a lovely (and necessary) French restaurant in this part of the city.

First visit back to the Big Apple since before the pandemic - fortunately found Chez Francis - it just opened its doors nine days ago - amazing and beautiful space extremely attentive, service, and great food!

Very good spot. The ambience is great with large comfy booths, mood lighting, and a quiet noise level! The service is excellent and fast. Free bread and butter is incredible - they refilled mine 3 times!! The French onion soup was also divine. The star of the show was the steak and the steak frites. Both very good and tender with great dipping sauces as well! I didn't try and drinks or dessert this time but will when I return!

We decided to come here for brunch and wow, what an experience! To set the scene, it was a beautiful day on Park Avenue and the weather was perfect for outdoor seating. We had made a reservation prior but it wasn't needed since most of the restaurant was empty. We opted in for the bottomless brunch which comes with a main breakfast entree for a fixed price. I decided to go with the breakfast sandwich which was not only filling but savory as well! I'd recommend this spot for groups and it also seems like a great dinner date spot as well.

Decent spot for quick french food and decent prices. No disrespect, this is like a french diner (a very good diner.) I could see myself coming back after a night of drinking. Short rib was a little dry but the sauce and mashed potatoes were good. Very nice and peaceful environment and parking was easy to find

The quintessential 4.5 star place, my friend and I really enjoyed our dinner. Ross was our waiter and he was awesome, great service and really knowledgeable with the menu. I would say all the food was enjoyable and we were both really happy with our meal but nothing was mind-blowingly delicious, all the dishes were very good. I wanted to visit this place since this is the former spot of Les Halles, Anthony Bourdain worked here for a number of years so it was nice to revisit this since I went to Les Halles many years ago. The food Foie Gras Maison- Date lemon chutney, balsamic reduction, country toast. The foie dish was very good, the date lemon chutney was a perfect pairing. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5suzPe6dIP20gBnMIakPLA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Tarte a l'Oignon- Puff pastry, caramelized onions, lardon. Ross recommended this and man, oh man that lardon! This was so comforting and rustic. The tart was made well, it could been a tad more crisp but the flavor was so good. The salad on this was interesting, I felt it was a tad bitter and underdressed but the more I ate it, the more I felt the bitterness was a welcome addition and it was properly dressed. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=FEEkrFJ5y4MJR1WexBd9aQ&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Steak Frites with Sauce Entrecote- Bavette, homemade fries, watercress. This dish was an homage to Anthony Bourdain. The steak frites were made well. The fries were seasoned in a way that made me think of old bay. The steak had good flavor and was cooked to a perfect medium rare but most bavette steaks I have had, it does come with some chewy pieces and this was no different. The entrecote sauce was a nice pairing with the steak. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=mG2rhn7rG4uX6pncPr_cew&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Bouillabaisse- Branzino, scallop, shrimps, saffron potatoes, zucchini, fennel. Oh my was this broth seafood forward. The broth really screamed essence of the sea and to me, it felt like a lobster bisque but I was told there was no lobster in the dish. The scallops and the branzino were the two stars of the dish. Both were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor, I thought this dish was made well but felt this dish came off rather small to me. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=7w0dH3PCBT_Bfr_0OQZmMA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Banana Soufflé- Banana, brandy, chocolate sauce. This was a fun and unique way to finish the meal. I appreciated how the desert wasn't too sweet. The soufflé had like a banana mousse flavor throughout but I did feel the texture of the banana itself was missing which I would have appreciated it for texture. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=c1wqyYFzrwETvxFxJWdaxw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA
